Dr. Erik Haukaas

Dr. Erik Haukaas

Veterinarian

Dr. Erik Haukaas earned his doctorate in 1990 from the University of Wisconsin. He joined Bay Area Animal Hospital in 1993 and he became owner in 1998. His favorite part of the job is meeting new pets and teaching new pet owners how to look after their new family members.

In his free time, Dr. Haukaas enjoys fishing, hunting, and going on adventures by exploring new areas with his family. Dr. Erik Haukaas shares his home with two flat-coat retrievers named Flint and Smoke. The duo is their family’s companion on all outdoor adventures, and they excel at retrieving ducks and pheasants.

Practice Manager

Amy graduated from Northwood Technical College in 1985 and became an integral part of Bay Area Animal hospital in 1998. Getting to meet new people and their beloved pets is what she likes most about working at the clinic. 

When she’s not busy working, Amy enjoys baking, cooking, and doing outdoor activities. She also sets aside quality time with family at their cabin. Their house is not a home without their two dogs, Flint and Smoke, who are always up for an adventure riding in the truck and absolutely adore going to the lake.

Veterinary Assistant

After years of working as a veterinary assistant, Crystal began her career at Bay Area Animal Hospital in 2022. Her favorite aspect of practicing veterinary medicine is coming across various unique cases. Crystal chose a career in veterinary medicine because she loves the work she does and has always known that it’s the path she would like to take.

Away from work, she loves camping and relaxing by the lake. Above all, she adores spending quality time with her family. A very special member of their family is a German Shepherd named Molly.

Veterinary Assistant

Ren joined the clinic in Fall 2023 and has quickly become a valued team member. With a passion for working with all animals, Ren loves providing them with the care they deserve. One of the most rewarding aspects of the job for Ren is building connections with clients and hearing their heartfelt stories about how they found their furry friends.

After graduating high school in 2018, Ren has focused on developing her skills and deepening her love for animal care. In her spare time, Ren enjoys spending quality time with her own pets, going on walks, hiking, and relaxing with friends and family.

Ren’s furry family includes three dogs: Summer, the oldest “chunk,” who loves eating and being at home; Willie, a loyal companion on walks and runs; and Tofte, a playful and strong-willed puppy. She also has four fluffy cats: Sunshine, Moonie, Dipper, and Pluto, each adding their unique charm to Ren’s life. Ren’s dedication to animals and compassionate nature make her an integral part of the clinic team.

Boarding and Day Care Attendant

Sasha joined the clinic in Fall 2023 and has quickly grown to love her time spent with the dogs and cats in her care. Her passion for animals shines through in her dedication to providing them with the attention and compassion they deserve.

Next year, Sasha plans to attend WITC in Superior to pursue a career in cosmetology, showcasing her creative and caring nature. In her spare time, she enjoys riding horses and expressing herself through painting.

Sasha shares her home with Luna, her beloved cat, who recently had her first litter of kittens, adding even more joy to Sasha’s life. Her love for animals and artistic spirit make her a wonderful addition to the clinic team.

Savannah

Boarding & Daycare Attendant

Savannah joined the clinic in Summer 2022 and has become a vital part of the team with her love for animals and warm interactions with clients. Her favorite part of working in veterinary medicine is spending time with the pets and getting to know the clients who bring them in, creating meaningful connections with both.

After graduating high school in 2021, Savannah has pursued her passions for both animals and the great outdoors. In her free time, she enjoys camping, fishing, hiking with her dog in new places, and even working on vehicles, including helping with a race car project!

Savannah shares her life with two wonderful dogs, Hazel and Turbo. Hazel, a lively Lab, is always ready for an adventure, while Turbo, a Yorkie mix, prefers the comfort of the couch. Her furry family also includes four cats: Harold, Reggie, Cheeto, and Sweet Pea, each bringing their own unique charm to her home. Savannah also owns three chinchillas named Blue, Eeyore and Snoopy. On top of that, she also takes care of her rabbits, Fuz and Bandit. Savannah’s dedication and enthusiasm make her a valued part of the clinic team.

Reese joined Bay Area Pet Spa in the spring of 2024 and has since discovered a deep love for working with animals. Reese’s favorite part of the job is connecting with new animals and finding joy in caring for them while getting to know their unique personalities.

Reese has two beloved pets: Mama Kitty, aka Chunky, and Baby Bear, a loyal dog. Both have been cherished companions since childhood and hold a special place in Reese’s life. Outside of work, Reese enjoys creating artwork, spending time outdoors with family, and embracing new experiences. Reese’s passion for animals and creativity makes them an integral part of the team.
